More protests against changes in Senate leadership emerge from Nandi.

A section of ward representatives in Nandi County have expressed their disappointments with the changes in the Senate leadership that was overseen by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Led by Terik Ward MCA Osborn Komen, the leaders said the ouster of Kipchumba Murkomen and Susan Kihika from serving as majority leader and chief whip respectively was part of the wider scheme to start the process of changing the constitution.

“That’s why there is forceful change in senate leadership and impending other changes including the National Assembly.” He said.

Komen observed that there was plan to expand the executive to create space for some individuals Keen to join governance adding that it was a sign of greed and dictatorship.

“If such changes should happen, it should be with proper wider consultations and should be done as per our constitution.” Komen said

The MCA faulted the process of removal of the two senators saying it was against the legal procedures and a beginning of a dictatorial leadership in Jubilee.

“We are aware that some people want to be Prime Ministers and bring down some leaders for their personal gain ahead of the 2022 elections,” said Komen.

Komen asked Uhuru to engage all party members especially leaders and address the rift within the party.

He also asked locals to remain calm despite the disappointments in leadership.

“It is hurting to see how Deputy President William Ruto is being undermined but we must remain calm,” he said.

Komen further asked top leaders to avoid politicking and instead concentrate on addressing the covid-19 pandemic.
