Parents have been advised to monitor their children while at home during holiday.
Paul Rotich, the executive secretary of the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education teachers (KUPPET), Nandi branch, said parents should play a role in guiding their children by instilling good morals.
Speaking in his office, Rotich said it is important for a parent to be close to their children to avoid what had happened last year where many cases of teenage pregnancies were reported in the county.
Over 7000 girls became pregnant when schools were closed last year on March following an outbreak of Covid-19.
“I went to encouraged the parents to be close to them because we don’t want to experience what we experienced last year over the same period where we registered a big number of girls who were expectant,” said Rotich.
He urged all the parents and also the locals in general to follow Covid-19 to avoid contracting the disease.
“I want to encourage Everybody to abide by Ministry of Health protocol ensure that they follow the protocols and stay at home,” he said.
Rotich also said the ongoing form four examination exercise was smooth even as he wished all the candidates the best in their tests.
