Mandago donates foodstuff to the muslim community in Uasin gishu.
Governor Jackson Mandago EGH on Friday handed over food donations to the Muslim community who are currently marking the holy month of Ramadhan.
The foodstuffs will be shared among the vulnerable families from the muslims.
Speaking during the function at the County Headquarters, Mandago hailed the good working relationship his administration has with various religions especially the muslims.
He also challenged the muslim Imams to ensure the Covid-19 protocals are stricly followed especially during iftar.
” We believe if we work with Imams and interfaith council, we will be able to curb the spread of the virus in our county,” Mandago said.
“So far, we appreciate the role that the imams and the church have played in helping people maintain health protocols and as a county, we are happy with the good relationship that we continue to enjoy,” he added.
Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno speaking during the event, thanked the muslim community for their contributionn to the economic growth of Eldoret town and the county as a whole.
“As locals, we are proud of our Muslim brothers and sisters as most businesses here in town they are the ones doing it.
“We know muslims have supported our county in many ways, aside from being peace-loving people,” said Chemno.
Education and Social services County Executive Committee Member, Joseph Kurgat, thanked Governor Mandago for seeing it good to give a donation to the muslims during this important month.
Kiplombe MCA Ramadan Ali Werambo on his part, said the donations will go a long way towards supporting many muslims who are in need of food for Iftar.
“What we have received we appreciate it a lot. It will be distributed through Imams so that every deserving muslim gets a share of it, whatever small,” noted the MCA.
Eldoret Jamia Mosque’s Imam, Mohamed Hussein, thanked Governor Mandago for the donations, pointing out that the county boss has always been supportive to the muslims during every Ramadhan period.
County Executive Member for Finance CPA Julius Ruto, Dr. Everlyne Rotich (Health), Dr. Emily Kogos (Trade), Eng. Nelson Maritim (Lands), Eng Gideon Birir (Roads), Mary Njogu (Water) and Samuel Yego (Agriculture) flanked the Governor.
