Mandago disburses Ksh 124 Million Bursary Cheques.

Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago EGH on Thursday presided over the disbursement of Cheques worth Ksh124 million for bursaries to support education for 19,674 needy students in secondary schools, TVETs, colleges and universities.

Each of the 30 wards received Ksh3.8 million, an increase of Ksh800,000 from the previous disbursement following an agreement between the County Executive and MCAs to increase the funds for more students to benefit.

“We had to cut down the budget for other areas so that we help families that were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and ensure no child fails to continue with their studies,” Mandago said, even as he affirmed his commitment to continue supporting the youth to be empowered with skills required in the current job market. In the past 9 years, 136,756 learners have benefited from the bursary Kitty.
