Kapsabet MCA protests IEBC varsity degree requirement.

A ward representative in Nandi has fiercely criticized against the IEBC mandatory requirement of a degree certificate for aspirants ahead of 2022 general elections.

The Mca for Kapsabet ward Fred Kipkemboi dismissed the directive of the electoral body, demanding all political candidates to at least attained a degree level of education to comply with constitutional regulations.

Speaking in Nandi county MCA Kipkemboi downplayed the new academic regulations claiming that the education is not a significant factor in leadership rather than the development performance.


“most of us were from less Privilaged families and we did not drop out of school willingly. We were elected without academic papers and remarkably delivered our legislative mandate as leaders,” He said.

The second term Mca who is also a justice and legal affairs commitee chair in the county assembly of Nandi, Kipkemboi, was first elected in 2013 with only a KCPE certificate.
He said that the IEBC academic thresholds are discriminating and threatened to filed a petition for suspension of its Implementation citing to undermine majority of the aspirants having undergraduate qualifications.

“The regulations are unfavorable to potential budding leaders who are nursing dreams to better the society. We shall fight for the ammendment of the set laws to be linient to upcoming leadership,” added Kipkemboi.
