Governor Sang asks IPOA to investigate police killings in Kakamega-Nandi border.
Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has protested the alleged killing of two persons and injuring of another by police at Kakamega-Nandi border.
Sang condemned the shootings and asked the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) to investigate the matter.
The shooting happened on Friday at Ketanin village mosop constituency.
Clashes that erupted last week were sparked by alleged boundary disputes.
Sang said police used excessive force and demanded arrest and prosecution of the suspected officer involved in the shooting.
“It is unfortunate that innocent persons were shot. We give police three days to take action on the officers,” said Governor Sang.
He accused police of protecting the suspected rogue officer adding that IPOA should take up the matter and ensure the culprit faces the law.
“If action is not taken, then we shall be forced to intervene as political leaders,” he threatened.
He urged the ministry of lands to review the boundary demands to end perennial land dispute among the two communities.
