Governor Mandago meets County Assemblies leadership forum.
Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has urged the County Assemblies to assist the executive to adopt creative ways to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic and post-pandemic economic recovery strategies.
Speaking on Thursday, when he hosted the County Assembly Leadership Forum – Kenya (CAF) led by their Chair Hon. Ndegwa Wahome (Speaker, Nyandarua County Assembly), the Governor asked the legislators to work closely with their respective executive for the betterment of the citizens.
“My government is already engaging The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce with a view of coming up with a post-COVID-19 Economic stimulus strategy. I am therefore requesting the legislature to support them and ensure this program is successful”, Mandago said.
On his part, the CAF – Kenya Chair said that they have been engaging within their caucuses to enhance close and seamless collaboration between county assemblies and executives with a view of ensuring that Kenya’s economy is revived as soon as possible.
“Uasin Gishu County Assembly is keen to ensure the local economy is on its feet. We wish to see the vibrancy of Eldoret City business again because this city is not just our headquarters but also the region’s economic hub”, Speaker David Kiplagat said.
The leaders also discussed various issues like budgetary allocations on priority areas and the post-COVID-19 stimulus package in the 2020/21 financial year. On the other hand, the legislators assured the Governor that they will work with the executive to ensure that devolution benefits the citizenry of this country
In the delegation was Secretary-General Hon Kipkirui Chepkwony (MCA Tindiret, Nandi County), Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker Hon David Kiplagat, Leader of Minority Hon Ramadhan Werambo (Kiplombe Ward MCA) and Cheptiret/Kipchamo MCA Hon Gilbert Tenai (UG Deputy Whip), among others.
