Elgeyo Marakwet County leaders continue to differ about the Building Bridges Initiative report.
The Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos who was chosen by the president to lead the popularization of the drive in the region said that the report will benefit the people and residents of the country at large if it will be implemented.
“When we saw the report of BBI one, devolution family was the biggest beneficiary. You can imagine increasing the allocation to at least 35% that will mean that a county like Elgeyo Marakwet will receive double the amount that they are getting at the moment” Tolgos said
He urged residents not to speculate on what will happen in BBI two instead they should wait for the day adding that they will go to grass root for public participation meetings and will explain to them so that and when it comes to referendum time Kenyans people will be more informed.
On his part, Keiyo South Member of Parliament Daniel Rono said that they are only going to support the rally if it is focused on bringing development to the region and not raising leadership positions.
“We are all supporting but if it is a BBI for positions we will not stand with it unless it is BBI to expand factories, to assist our youths to get jobs and getting more money from the National Government then we will stand with BBI.
