Elgeyo Marakwet county responds to Covid-19 case reported yesterday.

Elgeyo Marakwet County Government has clarified to its residents that the first Covid 19 positive case which was confirmed today by health CS Mutahi Kagwe is not within the County.

According to acting health CECM Isaac Kamar, the man who is a truck driver had provided his home adress as Keiyo North after his samples were taken in Malaba and later on tested positive as per KEMRI Labaratory in Kisumu.

Kamar said that his whereabout is ongoing urging his family members to share accurate information about his last seen.

Kamar added that the Covid 19 Surveillance team in the county has followed the case closely and established that the drivers last location was out of Elgeyo Marakwet.

He noted that swift action will be taken immmediately incase their will be any local contacts now that the case has links to the County.

Kamar called upon the residents to keep on adhering to the measures given by the government inorder to curb the spread of the virus.

“It is a responsibility of everyone to follow guidelines by keeping social distance, wearing masks and washing hands with soap or hand sanitizer,” said Kamar.
