Political analyst David Osiany now claims that embattled National Treasury Henry Rotich might pull an unexpected stunt in the fast-approaching 2022 general elections.
Speaking on NTV Tuesday morning, the governance expert noted that chances are high that the latter might try his hands in the elective political arena in the much-awaited polls.
He said that word on the ground has it that Rotich might have it very easy ascending to the Elgeyo Marakwet gubernatorial seat which is currently held by Alex Tolgos.
He added that the latter, despite not being actively engaged in politics currently, is still exposed to political matters considering that he is in an office that wields a lot of political influence.
Therefore, according to the former Rongo parliamentary hopeful, those holding Cabinet Secretary slots should not be treated as completely innocent on political matters.
“The CS slot is a political slot in as much as it is a professional and a policy role because you are appointed by a political leader (the president). There’s word that Rotich would easily make the next governor for Elgeyo Marakwet,” he said.
Rotich was on Monday arrested alongside other state officials over the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal, which are ironically in Rotich’s backyard – Elgeyo Marakwet.
