Nairobi Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi has lifted a warrant he had issued for the arrest of Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter on Thursday.
Magistrate Andayi had ordered the arrest of Mr. Keter after he failed to appear in court for the mention of a treasury bond forgery case he is facing alongside two others.
However, soon after the arrest warrant was issued, Keter presented himself in court where his lawyer took the blame, saying that he (lawyer) had misdiarised the date for the mention, hence, the confusion.
Thursday’s court proceeding was to confirm whether exhibits and other documents the prosecution intends to rely on the case have been supplied to the defence.
Keter, together with two directors of Desai Industries Limited; Arthur Ingolo Sakwa and Madat Suburali Chatur, are accused of presenting forged Treasury Bills amounting to Ksh.634 million to the Central Bank of Kenya seeking payment.
