Conseslus Kipruto tests positive for Covid-19.

World 3,000m steeplechase champion Conseslus Kipruto has tested positive for Covid-19.

Taking to his twitter account, Kipruto, the Olympic Games champion said he tested positive for the virus after undergoing a mandatory test in order to be cleared to travel for the upcoming Monaco Diamond League slated for August 14.

“Our World is going through a challenging period and we all have to take our responsibilities. Unfortunately my covid-19 test, as part of the Monaco-protocol, came back positive and therefore I can’t be part of the…,” Kipruto posted on his twitter handle.


Consequently, Kipruto will not be competing in the meet which will be the first event as the athletics season resumes after Covid-19 disruptions.

Kenya has recorded a surge in the Covid-19 infections with the number standing at 25, 837 and 418 deaths as of Saturday August 8.
