Blessed is the hand that giveth than the one that taketh, so says the adage.
It is against this backdrop that a group of well wishers have pulled together their resources in a bid to help the less fortunate in the society to smile during this festive season and further into the year 2020.
Over 100 youths United under a social media group dubbed “Maskani” have planned a ray of activities including visiting and gifting the sick, old and abandoned in Nandi County.
As they celebrate their 4th anniversary since the inception of the group, the group has identified two humble families where they will visit on Monday with shoppings beside paying medical cover, National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) for the whole year of 2020 which will also cover the children.
The group will start by visiting Sarah Choge age 94 who is sick and burdened with providing for her grandchildren orphaned by her daughter who died in the recent past.
They will also visit another sickly man who was abandoned by his wife to cater for their three children and is struggling with medication for a rare condition characterised with swelling of legs.
After the visits, the group will Mark the climax of their anniversary with a tree planting exercise on December 27. Several leaders are expected on D-Day before a party at Ruki resort in Lessos.
Officials of the group said they will be conducting similar exercises every year in different subcounties.

“This is the reason we come together every end year to celebrate ourselves beyond our political differences. We celebrate friendship that has enabled us interact throughout the year. As we celebrate four years of friendship, I’m glad that the Sacco we formed during our second celebration is now registered and running,” she said.
She said she was looking forward to impacting positively the lives of its members and in society at large.
“Like we have done before,we hope to shape political,social and Economic trends in Nandi County,” she optimistically noted.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, Ol’lessos ward MCA Hon Mengeech Kipkirong Rono applauded the Maskani WhatsApp group for choosing Ol’lessos ward to mark their 4th anniversary.
He commended the group and promised to introduce a social protection Bill for the vulnerable members of the society at the Nandi County Assembly in the year 2020.
