Chesumei MP urge residents to register as voters ahead of 2022 polls.

Chesumei MP Wilson Kogo has urged the residents to turn up in masses and register as voters ahead of the next year’s general election.

He stated that the ongoing registration exercise across the country gives an opportunity over 6 Million youth to vote in the leaders of their desire and define their destiny along their interests.

Speaking to the North Mirror on phone, Mp Kogo stated that he is focused to mobilize the legible voters who aquired their national identity card after 2017 general election in Nandi and ensure that they actively participated in the civil affairs of their country.

“The registration is fundamental aspect and the IEBC has rolled out to put all Kenyan citizens into the electoral system. And they are expected to make decisions in the bullot and come up with the leaders to take the political responsibilities in the respective capacities from the presidency to the ward level,” he said.

The legislator’s appeal came a day after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) initiated the a 30-day’s voter registration program in the country.

In Nandi, there has been low turn out of persons taking up their voter’s cards in various centers. According to IEBC report, over 500 persons have registered so far as the electoral officials call upon local elected leaders to intervene in the mobilization exercise.

“As the stakeholders; politicians and church leaders we shall reach out to the young people to take up civil duty. It’s our responsibility to see that the electorates inclusively involve in designing the leadership and governance of this country,” he added.
