Cement Investor Sets Foot In Uasin Gishu.

After setting up friendly and conducive investment structures, the County Government of Uasin Gishu is privileged to receive yet another investor, a cement processing industry.

Elgon Processing Industries limited is the latest investor to step foot in the county’s soil, this after successful feasibility on favorable conditions.

The company is working towards establishing a serious cement factory in Cheramei(Juakali) by January 2020. It is also set to produce cement that will at least fill 40 trucks in a single day.


According to Trade and Industrialization CECM Dr. Emily Kogos, it is going to be a relief to residents as the company will create direct and indirect jobs to over 1500 people.

“The company opted for Uasin Gishu as it lies within the proximity of their target market; Kenya, South Sudan, Uganda and Rwanda,” said Kogos on Thursday at the company’s site.

Elgon Processing Industries will run their company in Uasin Gishu while sourcing for the raw materials from West Pokot and the other NOREB counties.

Deru Odedra the company’s director expressed his desires to have preferred Uasin Gishu(Kenya) to Uganda because of the conducive environment and being the fastest growing town in Kenya.

Trade’s Chief Officer Simeon Tanui said the coming in of the investor uplifts the county’s image on matters investment.

“Uasin Gishu is an investment hub. Having a multibillion company like this to invest in our county is no joke”, said Tanui who also noted that the county administration will step in to improve the company’s accessibility to site.

The company apart from putting their monies in the county, it also has investments in the united kingdom and India.
