The State law Affairs Cabinet Administrative Secretary (CAS) Allan Kosgei have called upon the Anti- Doping Agency Kenya (ADAK) to rid out the perpetrators of doping in the athletic industry.
Following the recent suspension of the local athletes after allegedly involved in doping incidents, CAS claimed that the vice is menacingly tend to ruin the budding talents in the society.
He urged the sport’s stakeholders to maintain discipline in the training and take legal actions against suspects peddling the performance-enhancing drugs.
Speaking on Sunday November 5th, 2023, while closing the three-day’s Kenya Volleyball Federation 3rd Edition tournament at Mosoriot in Nandi County, Kosgei said that there is an urgent need to restore the country’s integrity in track races that spans over five decades.
“We are grateful to our heroes and heroines who have put Kenya on the map, they have won Kenya trophies and fame but we cannot watch their talents being wasted,” he stated.
He said that laws must be enacted to curb doping and illegalise certain drugs being sold in the local market and pharmacies.
Kosgei further assured that the government is focused to empower youths through talanta- hela tournaments and make sports a economically sustainable.
“Going forward, the national youth talent academy will be initiated across the country to provide platform for youths to showcase their talents in various aspect. President William Ruto’s administration of so deliberate mobilising resources for youths and sports,” he stated.
However, 68 volleyball team participated in the tournament and GSU club bagged the hold medal after scoring 3 sets against Equity Bank in the men’s final.
