Calls for political ceasefire among Nandi leaders ahead of DP Ruto’s visit.
A section of Nandi leaders have called for a political cease-fire amongst themselves ahead of Deputy President William Ruto’s visit to the region.
They urged aspirants and elected leaders to shelve their differences in respect to Dp Ruto during his meet-the-people tour and assessing the county and national projects.
Speaking on Saturday 20th November 2021 at Kapsabet bible college during the annual African Island Church (AIC) summit presided over by Bishop Rev. Dr. Abraham Mulwa, Mp Wilson Kogo (Chesumei) and Governor Stephen Sang urged locals to turn up in numbers to invite the Dp.
“How I wish that we set aside our difference and welcome our DP with all due respect he deserve, we shall have time to scold each other when we are alone but not when we have visitors especially our DP,” Mp Kogo pleaded.
He also emphasized the church leaders to pray for peace in the country amid the ongoing political and election exercise.
After concluding his presidential campaigns in Eastern central Kenya last week, Dp Ruto is expected to jet to his political bastion on Wednesday this week for youth and women empowerment programs pegged on his bottom-up economic model that has gained traction across the country.
His first visit since the begining of the year has sparked political differences between the elected leaders and the aspirants set to contest in various positions using United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.
Governor Sand said that; “As we are heading to elections, let us give everyone a chance to campaign and when the time comes everybody will exercise their democratic right of choosing the leaders they want. The most important thing is that we become peaceful and treat each other well,”
He accused a section of politicians of fanning embers of division by instilling negative ethnicity and tribalism among Kenyans.
“We are urging the clergymen to proactively intervene and call out the rogue these leaders. We cannot stand watching individuals plying retrogressive politics that can take us back to the dark days where our country plunged into chaos and political instability,” Governor Sang stated.
