Residents of Nandi County have been asked to watch out for fake face masks being circulated by unscrupulous hawkers in the region.
HealthCounty Executive Committee Member Ruth Koech said locals were risking their lives because of the circulation of the fake materials.
“I want to urge all the residents in Nandi county to make sure that whenever you want to buy a mask ensure that it is well made and clean” Said Koech.
She said the counterfeit masks were often dirty looking and do not have the inner filter lining.
Addressing journalists in Kapsabet, Ms Koech asked residents to avoid sharing of masks saying to avoid contracting Covid-19 from infected persons.
The county official also revealed that eight barriers had been erected at the borders where travellers entering the county were being screened for the virus.
She also asked persons with terminal illnesses and expectant women to stay at home and practice good hygiene noting that they were more vulnerable.
“I want to ask expectant women and those nursing infants to visit clinics where they will get professionals assistance.” She Said.
