Aldai MP wants more funds allocated to the NG-CDF kitty to spur developments.
Aldai Member of paliament Corneli Serem has rooted for the increment of National Government – Constituency Development Funds (NG-CDF) urging to sufficiently sustain development projects in the community.
He said that raising the amount of the annual NG-CDF allocations under the management of the Mps would accelerate the infrustractural developments arguing that the current 2.5% is too little thus said to have slowed down the implementation of the public projects.
Noting that the money which is under the management of the legislators in their respective constituencies are majorly used in the construction of the schools, markets, roads, security structures among others, Mp Serem said it’s not enough to complete the projects within the shortest time possible due to frequent shortage of funds.
“For instance, I have over 200 schools within my constituency and all are looking up to the Sh. 80 Million we normally received from the government. It forces us to stretch the limited resources to the few prioritized projects which takes up to four years to be completed and operationalized the facilities,” he said.
Addressing the residents in Kobujoi center while meeting the Paliamentary committee in charge of the NG-CDF led by the chair Mp Richard Tongi (Nyaribari Chache), Mp Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati) and Janet Sitienei (Turbo), Mp Serem said that the proposal which is in the committee level proposes an increase of the NG-CDF to 5% is necessary to hasten the development of the essential projects in community.
Mp Tongi said that they are going round the country assessing the ongoing NG-CDF funded projects before making the resolutions on either passing the bill or not.
“We are also engaging the constituents over the matter and as the lawmakers, we shall finally make resolutions basing on our findings,” stated Mp Tongi, claiming that most of the views they have collected from the residents support the increase of NG-CDF.
