Aldai MP urges Boda Boda riders to join SACCOs.

Aldai Mp Corneli Serem has urged  Bodaboda riders to register Sacco to be enrolled in government empowerment initiatives.

The legislator noted that there are youth empowerment programs including Uwezo funds and affirmative action targeting small-medium enterprises (SMEs) to mitigate the adverse impacts of Covid-19 that have battered the country’s economy for the last two years.

Speaking in Kobujoi, Nandi county during the handing over ceremony of Sh.1Million cheque that was promised by Deputy President William Ruto to Aldai boda boda Sacco, the area legislator claimed that the youths are not taking serious the importance of forming groups to access empowerment funds.


“We as political leaders it is our role to mobilize and sensitize young entrepreneurs to adopt convinient economic mechanisms to benefit from financial resources that are available. The lucrative bodaboda sector like any other economic investment, youths should be emphasized to practise saving culture for a progressive economic standards, ” he said.

Amid the Covid-19 prevalence in the country, Mp Serem said that over millions of Kenyan youths have lost their jobs thus called upon the locals to practise entrepreneural activities involving small businesses and farming.

” We have over sh10 Million reserved for women and youth groups who have ventured in small businesses and it is my call that they start up the enterprises within the community. This will accelerate the economy and creation of job opportunities,” he affirmed.

He added that that through National Government constituency development fund (NG-CDF) he has set aside money for a face-lift and expansion of market in Kobujoi and Kaptumo centers to create a business conducive environment for SMEs.
