Abide by the law or be impeached, governor’s told.
Members of the County Assembly have vowed not to relent against impeaching governors unless the county chiefs will abide by the law in their execution of their duties.
Secretary General of the County Assemblies Forum Kipkurui Chepkwony warmed governors against violating laws and regulations guiding them saying they will not be spared.
“Some governors tend to perceive and treat MCAs as inferiors and disregard their opinions on the running of the counties. That causes some friction,” claimed Chepkwony.
Chepkwony defended Wajir MCAs’ impeachment of their governor saying the ward representatives were executing their oversight role.
“We stand in solidarity with the county assembly of Wajir. They followed the law. It is shocking that the impeached governor appeared in a meeting with other governors yet we have his replacement sworn in,” Chepkwony commented.
