A section of Nandi leaders protest changes in Senate leadership.

Political leaders from Nandi County have protested against changes in the Senate made during a meeting at State House.

The leaders criticised the removal of Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Nakuru senator Susan Kihika from the positions as majority leader and chief whip respectively.

Led by Chesumei MP Wilson Kogo, the leaders said the changes were not legal.

“The removal of the two should have been done through a legal process where the national executive council of the party are involved. What happened is an illegality,” said Kogo.

The MP said it was high time for the leadership not President Uhuru Kenyatta to be put to question.

Kogo said the Head of State had acted unfairly by overseeing leadership changes without following a legal process.

“I urge President Kenyatta to be a true leader who believes in democratic processes. I ask him to be steadfast and follow party rules without allowing other opportunistic people a chance to ruin his legacy by undermining other leaders,” he said.
